A 14 Day Meditation on the Love of God

God’s love is more than a thought, or even an action. It brings our hearts, minds, and souls together with God’s.

Day 5

Beloved of God

Opening Affirmation

“O give thanks to the Lord, for He is Good,
His steadfast love endures forever.”
Psalm 118:1

Scripture Reading–1 John 4:7-12

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.  In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

Today’s Exercise–Writing Affirmations

We usually think of confessing as something we do when we have done something wrong. But “confession” literally means to agree with something another says. It doesn’t just mean agreeing about what is wrong when we are accuesed, but also do agree when we are praised or someon promises us  good things. Positvie confessions are called affirmations.   It is when we agree with God says about us, or promises to us.
When we affirm  God loves us, we agree with God’s Word, that promises us God’s love and protection.  We can affirm Christ as Lord and Savior we are also agreeing what Christ has done on our behalf.
Today,  write down some affirmations from God’s Word.   Take a favorite Bible passage and rewrite it as a positive confession God’s love.
For example, look at Ephesians 1.  We can rewrite it as a personal affirmation of God’s love.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us  (me) in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,  even as he chose us (me) in him before the foundation of the world, that we (I) should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us(me) for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will”
and so on. . .

Once you have done this you will be amazed at how many promises and affirmations are given to you in God’s Word.
